Gahanna Christian Academy
Historical Information

At Gahanna Christian Academy forty faculty, five administrators, and eighteen other staff members minister the Love of Jesus daily to nearly five hundred students in preschool through high school.  Over one hundred different churches in the Gahanna area are represented by our student body,

The school began as Evangel Christian Academy in 1980 as an outreach of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church, with sixty-five students.  God planted a vision in the heart of former Pastor Gene Speich and the church rallied behind him to build a family life center that included classrooms for students from preschool through sixth grade.  God has been faithful through the years in providing for the needs of the school through faithful supporters, a dedicated faculty and staff, and devoted families.

As enrollment increased, and more classroom space was needed, a second building with a gymnasium/sanctuary and additional classrooms for middle school was completed in 1987.  In 1996, high school was added, starting with ninth grade.  Additional facilities were constructed that added a science lab, computer lab, music and art rooms, locker rooms, and several classrooms paving the way for our first graduating class in 2000.  Additional modular classrooms were added in 1998 to expand the preschool and provide for two kindergarten classrooms.  In 2004, the school name was changed to Gahanna Christian Academy.

As GCA grew, school families recognized the need for additional classroom and gymnasium space.  They came together, made pledges and raised funds to build a gymnasium complex which was opened in January of 2008.  Besides a beautiful state-of-the-art-gymnasium that is home to The GCA Eagles sports teams, the complex includes a preschool wing, several offices, additional high school classrooms, and a concession area.

With much prayer and sacrifice, Gahanna Christian Academy continues to grow.  The “Class of 2000”, had fifteen graduates who received over $250,000 in scholarships and grants to various colleges.  This number has increased over the years with as many as forty-two graduates who received over $750,000 in college scholarships and grants and several receiving full ride scholarships to such schools as DeVry University and The Ohio State University.  Improvements and additions to curriculum, programs and learning opportunities are evaluated and upgraded on a regular basis to meet state standards and the needs of our students.

The school continues to fulfill the vision that was placed in the heart of Rev. Gene Speich.  God is faithful!!!
